Timely salon software gives you two routes: export a client report yourself, or ask support for a broader data export. For a move to another booking system, we recommend the support route. It can include clients, appointments, services, notes, products and product purchases. Timely’s data-export guide sets out the available records.
By the JENA team. Official guidance checked 5 September 2026.
This guide covers the hair and beauty booking software at gettimely.com. It does not cover the separate Timely time-tracking app.
Which export do you need?
| What you need | Route |
|---|---|
| Client contacts | Reports → Client overview, then export CSV or Excel. |
| Past and future appointments | Reports → Appointment schedule, then export CSV or Excel. |
| A broader set of records, including client notes | Request a data export from Timely support. |
The steps for each route are below. If you’re moving your whole business, start the support request while you download the reports.
Request a fuller Timely data export
- Open Timely’s support request form.
- Identify your business and the email attached to your account.
- Request a data export and give your preferred delivery date. Timely says requests can take up to 48 hours.
- Ask for clients, including reward points, appointments, services, client notes, products and product purchases. These are the categories Timely lists for its export.
- Request all available appointment history, from your first recorded booking onwards, and all future bookings. Add any other records you need, such as forms or photos, and ask Timely to explain any exclusions.
- Submit the request. You can copy the formal wording later in this guide.

Download the files Timely sends
- Open Timely’s data-sharing email. Check your spam folder if it has not arrived.
- Follow the link to the customer data-sharing site.
- Click Send code.
- Retrieve the code from your email and enter it on the data-sharing page. The code lasts 15 minutes.
- Select all files using the circle in the header.
- Open the three-dot menu and download the files. Do not open each file individually from the page, as Timely says they will not open correctly that way.
- Save the files together and keep an untouched copy before preparing an import.

Export your Timely client list yourself
- Open Reports from the main menu.
- Select Client overview from the report list.
- Review the filters so the report includes all the clients you want to export.
- Click Edit columns and choose the client information you need.
- Click Update to apply the column choices.
- Choose CSV or Excel to download the report.
- Open the file and check names, phone numbers and email addresses against a few client profiles.

Export your Timely appointments yourself
We recommend exporting your full appointment history, from your first recorded booking onwards. This lets you keep your historical data, as well as your current client list. Include all future bookings too, using a separate export or support request where needed.
- Open Reports from the main menu.
- Choose Appointment schedule from the report dropdown.
- Set the date range from your first recorded appointment through today to include your full history. Review the staff and location filters, if shown.
- Click View report.
- Select CSV or Excel and save the file.
- Repeat with a future date range that reaches your last scheduled appointment.
- Check the exported dates against your diary and confirm that future bookings appear in the second file.
The Appointment schedule report includes client and appointment information for the chosen period. Multi-service bookings are grouped together. It reflects calendar bookings, so invoice changes and extra items sold may need separate financial records. Sources: appointment report contents, report controls and export buttons.
Check your diary before switching
Pick a busy day and compare the exported appointments with your existing calendar. Check the client, service, start time, duration and staff member where relevant.
Then look further ahead. A recurring regular may be booked several months out. Make sure your chosen range reaches those appointments too.
Keep a separate checklist for money already taken. An appointment’s price does not tell you whether the client paid a deposit, used a voucher or still has a balance to settle.
Common questions
Does everything Timely exports automatically work in JENA?
No. A provider’s ability to export a field and another system’s ability to import it are different things. Our team will help check your available files and agree what can move across.
What if the download email doesn’t arrive?
Check your spam folder, then follow up with Timely support. Keep your requested delivery date in the same conversation so you can adjust your switching plans if needed.
Your right to request your client data
If you run your own hair or beauty business in the UK or EU, you normally control the client records you keep for that business. GDPR calls you the data controller. You can use the export steps or request below to ask for a copy for your records or to test software.
If you later end the service, both UK GDPR and EU GDPR require your contract to let you choose the return of the client data Timely handles on your behalf. Article 28(3)(g) sets out this protection in both laws. UK guidance: ICO, EU GDPR: Article 28.
Request a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, such as CSV for contacts and appointments. In plain English: files you can keep or use with other software, with notes and attachments linked to the right client.
Timely’s privacy policy describes its role handling client data on your behalf. Its 48-hour export estimate is separate from your GDPR rights.
A formal data request you can send
